It was a beautiful day for the annual Northwest Connecticut CROP Hunger Walk, a nation-wide event that builds community while raising funds to end hunger. On Sunday, Sept. 29, students, faculty, staff, parents, pets, and friends of 91传媒 came together with other local schools and organizations to raise money and awareness for community and global food shortages.

鈥淚t was an amazing turnout,鈥 says Colleen O鈥橰eilly, Dean of Students and Co-Chair of the Community Service Committee. 鈥淚 don’t think I have ever seen so many students and families from 91传媒 come and support the CROP Walk.鈥

As people walked or ran along the scenic 5K route adjacent to the Housatonic River, they were asked to think of those who suffer from hunger and must walk miles each day just to get water and food for survival.

Ms. O鈥橰eilly shared that 91传媒 was welcomed by a Housatonic Valley Regional High School alumna that currently holds an officer position in the state FFA. 鈥淪he shared her experience locally, nationally and globally about witnessing, addressing, and supporting world hunger.鈥

The importance of this event was underscored by Mrs. Knapp, who shared that 鈥減articipation impacts individuals and families in more than 35 countries and 25% of the overall funds raised through our walk will stay right here in the Northwest corner.鈥 Cash and check donations on both the Lower and Upper Campuses will close this Friday, October 4. through Oct 31 for our Team 91传媒.(Please be sure 鈥淚ndian Mountain School鈥 is listed!)
