91传媒 Hosts Annual Art Contest and Exhibit
On Thursday, Jan. 31, Sam Posey鈥檚 annual juried art contest and exhibit was held at Indian Mountain School for the sixth consecutive year. This event brings together local artists and art enthusiasts to celebrate a diverse range of works, which will hang in the 91传媒 Student Center through March 1, 2019. This year鈥檚 theme was “Sanctuary,” and 2019 judges included Theo Coulombe, a photographer and director of Standard Space gallery in Sharon, CT; 聽Terri Moore, a painter, art instructor at The Hotchkiss School, and co-director of Tremaine Art Gallery; and Frank Oz, a renowned actor, puppeteer, director, and producer. The art show received a record 94 submissions, 25 of which were selected to be reviewed by a panel of jurors and currently hang in the Student Center.
The first place prize of $5,000 went to John Atchley for his piece, titled, 鈥淧assages #10/35,鈥 a photograph of Humayun’s tomb in Delhi, India. The second place prize of $3,500 was awarded to Barbara Ehlers for her piece, titled, 聽鈥淰ancouver Island Shelter.鈥 The third place prize of $1,500 was awarded to Colin McLain for his painting, titled 鈥淢argin Walker.鈥
Exhibit Viewing Hours: Exhibit viewing hours will be held Monday-Friday between 8:00-5:00 in the 91传媒 Student Center at 211 Indian Mountain Road, Lakeville, CT. RSVP is required. Contact Heather Adams at artshow@indianmountain.org. The exhibit will be open through March 1, 2019.
