On Monday, May 3, eighteen English as a Second Language students traveled to Lee J. Kellogg school in Falls Village for a “Cultural Exchange Day.” The students were divided into six groups: three groups representing Mexico, one representing Japan, one representing South Korea, and one representing China. 91´«Ã½ students enthusiastically taught Kellogg school students (grades five through eight) about their homelands, aided by powerpoint slide presentations and activities they had prepared. After the teaching was over, 91´«Ã½ and Kellogg students shared recess on the playground and got to know each other in a less formal setting. The trip was a great success, due to the 91´«Ã½ students’ preparation and new-found teaching skills. They will travel to Salisbury Central School soon to meet with the middle schoolers there for an additional Cultural Exchange.
